SOS GREEN COMMUNITY PROJECT
SOS Green
Is an educational and environmental project highlighting social issues such reusing and recycling unwanted kit that otherwise might be thrown out and be part of the growing problem of land fill and global warming in the UK. It encourages all UK and Irish schools to think about recycling every year, starting with rugby kit, but next year mobile phones, then paper etc.

Gloucester School go green
Gloucestershire schools teamed up with Gloucester rugby and SOS/iRB Kit aid to design a marketing campaign to highlight environmental issues of throwing away old rugby kit, with winner of the competition going forward to national presentation to be held at the House of Commons.
The SOS Green project raises the awareness that not only do we need kit to help children, but the education and environmental issues that affect us all, if kit is thrown away in land fill sites, a growing problem in the UK.The schools taking part were:
Churchdown school
Sir Thomas Riches School,Longlevens
Winchcombe School
Thomas Keble school ,Stroud
Lakers School, Coleford
After a tour of the stadium at Kingsholm, each school, made a display showing where they could help the project and then completed a 10 minute presentation to a panel of judges which included:, Gloucester Player, Leon Lloyd, Former England & Lions legend Gareth Chilcott, who is also an ambassador for the project, Richard Westaway, Regional Director and AnthonyLynn Project marketing Director from SOS/iRB Kit Aid.
After a very close deliberation from the panel, Churchdown School were declared the winners. They were presented with a signed framed shirt of the current Gloucester rugby team and of course will have a chance to present the SOS Green campaign in the House of Commons to distinguished guests. The design competition was so successful it will now be run in other regions all around the UK.
Gary Little, Community Marketing Manager for Gloucester Rugby added,
‘We are delighted to have been involved in this project. I visited each of the schools during the planning of their SOS green projects and have been inspired by the students enthusiasm and standard of work.
