WHO ARE THE PEOPLE BEHIND DHL LUTTERWORTH ?

5TH AUGUST 2010

SOS is so grateful to the many rugby "nuts" who help support what we do .Two such rugby nuts are Tim Stubbins and Wayne Kinton - part of the Management Team at DHL Supply Chain - Lutterworth IBC. They are pictured here with John Marshall on the right(SOS East Midlands Director) at a recent kit packing session at Lutterworth. It is thanks to DHL and people like Tim and Wayne that soon many children in less advantaged countries will be able to play rugby for perhaps the first time. Gaining from the fitness, friendship, discipline and sheer enjoyment that rugby brings. Keep upthe good work fellas and thanks again for all your kind help !

BIG THANKS TO DHL SUPPLY CHAIN - LUTTERWORTH !!

5TH AUGUST 2010

SOS IRB Kit Aid exists because ,apart from the wonderful help/sponsorship of the IRB, Dublin , companies like DHL Supply Chain, Lutterworth IBC support us in what we do. Not only do DHL store our kit for free, they also help us to pack it too !! Pictured with John Marshall on the right(SOS East Midlands Director) are Gosia Weslowska(originally from Poland - an SOS supplied country!) and Kyle Pratt at a recent packing sesssion at DHL. This kit will soon be winging its way to Bosnia(or maybe Gosia's homeland of Poland !) Thanks again DHL Supply Chain at Lutterworth IBC for ALL your wonderful support !

SO MANY KIT DONORS TO THANK !

5TH AUGUST 2010

Though the rugby sesason is over the kit still keeps rolling in - thanks to wonderful people like Philiip Mann at Taunton School and Michela Regan at Woodroffe School , Lyme Regis. This kit was kindly collected by our new SOS area co-ordinator in the South West - Roger Elliott - welcome on board Roger ! Pictured too is Matilda Kershaw from Berkhampsted School daughter of teacher Peter Kershaw who very kindly contacted us to donate a lot of rugby kit when the school amalgamated with two other schools and  changed its colours and didn't know what to do with the old kit ! Many thanks !

Big thanks also to Bedford Prep School and Silhillians RFC for 200+ shirts !! Thanks guys !

SOS RESUMES DELIVERIES TO UKRAINE !

14TH JULY 2010

SOS regretfully has been unable to deliver rugby kit to Ukraine since a dramatic increase in transport costs and complicated customs proceedures since mid 2008. Thanks to a ukranian Ivan Rwenco living in london we have now been able to resume deliveries. The first delivery in 2010 is now winging its way to Kiev courtesy of Iwan and Visage Kitchens of Surrey. Rugby is going from strength to strength in Ukraine with their National team doing particularly well. We hope to have another delivery on its way soon. Pictured is rugby from a recent junior rugby festival in Kiev.

JERSEY RUGBY CLUB - SUCH GENEROUS SUPPORTERS OF SOS !

7TH JULY 2010

A big thanks to Kevin Lemasney and ALL at Jersey Rugby Club for a magnificent rugby kit donation to SOS ! Christmas came early to SOS when ten big boxes of quality rugby kit arrived from the golden island. Some of this kit is already on its way to Kenya and, tomorrow some more will be going to Ukraine. The kit was particularly useful because of the small sizes from the junior/academy section of the Club. Many thanks again Jersey - we are putting your kindness to good use !

BIG THANKS TO GLASGOW HAWKS/TAUNTON & WOODROFFE SCHOOLS !

SOS IRB KIT AID NOT JUST RUGBY KIT - A GRANDSTAND TOO !!

28TH JUNE 2010

The last two days have seen big SOS IRB Kit Aid kit deliveries to Kenya and Latvia but that is not all we do and you would be amazed at the vast array of rugby things we get asked for by our 19 countries that we have already supplied, plus the 57 countries on our waiting list! About 3 weeks ago SOS Chairman John Broadfoot was approached by the Hungarian Rugby Federation seeking anyone who had a spare rugby grandstand !! Always willing to help SOS forwarded the request onto our extensive rugby contacts. Nothing happened for a while but then LLanelli Scarlets got in touch and now after a few weeks it looks as though some 2,000 spectator seats will be on their way to a new Hungarian rugby stadium near Budapest. Will keep you posted when they finally arrive ! Whatever next ?

SOS MAKE BIG KIT DELIVERY TO HAITI AT THE REQUEST OF THE IRB!

16TH JUNE 2010

SOS recently completed a massive humanitarian kit delivery to tsunami affected Samoa at the direct  request of the IRB - something outside of SOS's normal kit delivery programme. We were able and happy to do this because of the massive amount of kit from all our wonderful schools, clubs, kit manufacturers and other rugby bodies like the RFU throughout the UK and Ireland. So we were delighted to meet the IRB's further request for a smaller but just as important delivery to earthquake stricken Haiti where rugby is just beginning to take off. The picture shows SOS Chairman John Broadfoot amongst the delivery of 800 kilos of quality rugby kit now on its way to Haiti, courtesy of the IRB who are paying directly for the delivery and DHL Global Forwarding who are helping to sponsor the kit delivery. The IRB also donated brand 400+ rugby balls This is also the second delivery of kit we have made by envionmentally friendly boat ! The kit will take some 30 odd days to get there but doubtless will be well received. We hope to have pictures soon to show you the kit in action. Thank you IRB and thank you DHL !

Wonderful Samurai Sportwear continue to support SOS !

16TH JUNE 2010

Pictured is Terry Sands - Managing Director of Samurai Sportwear in front of a another massive kit donation to SOS. This is their second massive donation within the last few weeks. Without the support of wonderful UK kit suppliers like Samurai SOS could not exist. It is great too to be able to send so much brand new kit thanks to the generosity of great rugby community people like Terry. Additionally Samurai also act as a local collector of second hand kit for SOS IRB Kit Aid. So if you live locally drop it by them ! Some of Samurai's kit is already winging its way to earthquake torn Haiti where is just starting to get off the ground. Pictures soon we hope ! Thanks again Terry and all at Samurai - rugby players in emerging rugby nations have much to thank you for ! Keep up the good work.
